The Yoga Cikitsa Certification is a 1200 hour training designed to introduce experienced yoga teachers to the basic concepts of yoga as a therapeutic-based practice. The program is grounded in classical yoga. The program will include:
• basic yoga cikitsa as taught in the yoga scriptures with current day applications,
• ayurveda basics and doshic influence on health and wellbeing,
• foundations of Jyotisha and the relevance to yoga cikitsa
• the practice, application and adaptation of many yoga tools including asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra, meditation, yantra, Pratipaksh Bhavana, ritual and more,
• western anatomy, physiology and the pathology of disease,
• skills to assist relating with psychological, medical and complementary practitioners,
• practical experience in a clinical setting through case taking, assessment, maintaining appropriate records, and developing yoga therapy protocols.
The program is taught in four semesters:
Semester One: Foundations of Yoga Cikitsa: Yoga and Anatomy Basics
Semester Two: Foundations of Yoga Cikitsa: The Classical Texts
Semester Three: Yoga Tools and Cikitsa Application
Semester Four: Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and the Application of Yoga Tools
